National Center for Mathematics and Interdisciplinary Sciences (NCMIS), Chinese Academy of Sciences was founded on November 24, 2010 as part of the “Innovation 2020” program launched by Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and approved on the State Council of China. The mission of NCMIS is to create a national research platform for mathematics and interdisciplinary sciences by bringing together researchers in mathematics and related disciplines in CAS and by cooperating with domestic and overseas institutions in related areas. The main tasks of NCMIS are to advance mathematics and related disciplines by extracting and solving key scientific and mathematical problems from natural, engineering, and social sciences, make essential contributions to China’s development by studying on the bottleneck mathematical problems in national strategic demand, train interdisciplinary talents that catering for scientific development and national strategic demand, and provide a platform for exchanges between mathematics and interdisciplinary sciences. There are about 165 permanent members from Academy of Mathematics and Systems Science (AMSS), Chinese Academy of Sciences and about 100 cooperative members from over 30 universities and institutions of CAS. |
