  Abstract

A planar map is a proper embedding of a finite connected planar graph into the two-dimensional sphere seen up to continuous deformation. In the first part of this talk we will review the different methods to enumerate planar maps : Tutte's initial approach via generating function, matrix integrals and bijective techniques. We will then dive into the fascinating geometry of random planar maps and the conjectured relations with random conformal geometry.
